DE-SHED

All dogs shed fur, and some more than others - which is something you already know if you share your home with a medium-coated or long-coated dog. But with a de-shed treatment at Animal Affair Grooming, you may spend a lot less time trying to clean fur off the family room couch. Shedding can make dogs feel itchy, so removing loose hair makes them a lot more comfortable and also keeps them nice and cool during the warmer seasons.

Included in our De-Shed Service;

  • We at Animal Affair Grooming use special tools and cleaners that gently remove loose hairs before they fall out.
  • First, they start by thoroughly washing your pet with de-shed shampoo, and depending on the dogs coat, they may also gently rake out loose fur while it's still wet.
  • Further brushing and combing to remove more loose hairs may be necessary once the coat is blown dry.

As seasonal temperatures increase, monthly or bi-weekly de-shed treatments can simnifically reduce the presence of dog hair in your home. Which is irritant for most people with pet allergies. Reducing shedding minimises the presence of dog dander, creating a healthier home environment.

Dogs with double coats, such as Golden Retriever and German Shepherd, usually shed their undercoats twice per year. It begins with a tuft or two of undercoat falling out, and a dog may shed its entire undercoat in a matter of days. Removing all that loose fur is essential for preventing hair mats.

When a double-coated dog begins its major biannual shedding, de-shed treatment at Animal Affair Grooming can quickly remove all that excess fur that would normally be shed over several days.
